Time for tea
Treat Mum to an afternoon tea this Mother’s Day.
Whoever ‘Mum’ might be to you, make her feel just as special as she ought to over one of life’s best-loved pastimes: a pot of tea. Milk with sugar or a splash of peppermint, you can’t go far wrong with a steaming brew.
No matter your tea drinking habits — that’s neither here nor there — a relaxing afternoon with Mum in the conservatory or in the garden (if the weather holds out) will be just the sentiment she’ll cherish this Mother’s Day.
Here’s our top tips on creating a delicious afternoon, set to spoil Mum.
Step one: the china
We’re not talking about the type of tea occasion where you gulp your English breakfast before making a mad dash for the door; Mum deserves a beautifully laid table, with the finest crockery. Polish up the ‘special occasion’ cups and saucers and finish the set with an elegant teapot (don’t forget the teaspoons).
Step two: pretty blooms
Take note of her favourite blooms and place a vase in the centre of the table, sure to be spotted the moment she arrives. If you’re stuck on colours, a bouquet of reds, pinks, yellows, or blues will add a calming colour palette to the table, complementing a soothing sip of tea.
Step three: a sweet treat
You simply can’t have a cup of tea without a biscuit (or three). Might we go as far as to say, without a piece of cake. Level up your teatime with a selection of sweet treats, for an extra slice of decadence.
